چکیده

Customer churn has become a critical issue, especially in the competitive and mature credit card industry. From an economic and risk management perspective, it is important to understand customer characteristics in order to retain customers and differentiate high-quality credit customers from bad ones. However, studies have not yet adequately introduced rules based on customer characteristics and churn forms of original data. This study uses rough set theory, a rule-based decision-making technique, to extract rules related to customer churn; then uses a flow network graph, a path-dependent approach, to infer decision rules and variables; and finally presents the relationships between rules and different kinds of churn. An empirical case of credit card customer churn is also illustrated. In this study, we collect 21,000 customer samples, equally divided into three classes: survival, voluntary churn and involuntary churn. The data from these samples includes demographic, psychographic and transactional variables for analyzing and segmenting customer characteristics. The results show that this combined model can fully predict customer churn and provide useful information for decision-makers in devising market-

Cluster & Rough Set Theory Based Approach to Find the Reason for Customer Churn

Data mining is the nontrivial process of extraction of interesting, implicit, potentially and previously unknown knowledge from large databases. There are many techniques used in data mining like: Statistical Analysis, Decision Tree, Neural Network, Clustering, Association Rule, Genetic Algorithms, Fuzzy Logic, and Rough Sets. Rough Set theory (RST), is a technique for dealing with uncertainty ...

Mobile Operator Customer Classification in Churn Analysis

Customer churn is a grave problem for all mobile operators. Early identification of customers from the risk group could help retain them in the operator's network. This paper introduces a set of potential churn factors on which data can be relatively easily extracted from the operator’s databases and analyzed using the SAS® Enterprise Guide®. A multi-stage research procedure utilizing such real...

Credit Card Fraud Detection using Data mining and Statistical Methods

Due to today’s advancement in technology and businesses, fraud detection has become a critical component of financial transactions. Considering vast amounts of data in large datasets, it becomes more difficult to detect fraud transactions manually. In this research, we propose a combined method using both data mining and statistical tasks, utilizing feature selection, resampling and cost-...

Predicting credit card customer churn in banks using data mining

In this paper, we solve the customer credit card churn prediction via data mining. We developed an ensemble system incorporating majority voting and involving Multilayer Perceptron (MLP), Logistic Regression (LR), decision trees (J48), Random Forest (RF), Radial Basis Function (RBF) network and Support Vector Machine (SVM) as the constituents. The dataset was taken from the Business Intelligenc...

Using Deep Learning to Predict Customer Churn in a Mobile Telecommunication Network

Customer churn is defined as the loss of customers because they move out to competitors. It is an expensive problem in many industries since acquiring new customers costs five to six times more than retaining existing ones [1-4]. In particular, in telecommunication companies, churn costs roughly $10 billion per year [5]. A wide range of supervised machine learning classifiers have been develope...
